NEWS (11 August): Attend the official opening on Wednesday 23 August at 20:00! Hans Secelle (FESA president and first ever European Champion) will present a completely new incarnation of his famous "Psychology in Shogi" talk. Then, as top of the bill, Osamu Nakao (6-dan pro, renowned teacher of Shogi and guest of honour of the MSO) will present a Shogi lesson on history, title matches and other topics.

NEWS (6 August): We have a fantastic number of registered participants: 88 for the European Championship/MSO Worldwide Championship alone and 97 for all Shogi events together! Check out the complete list of participants.
Early registration for all Shogi events has closed. Register directly at the MSO site from now on.

NEWS (28 June): The Shogi for Beginners session has been moved from the afternoon to the morning of Wednesday 23 August.
On Sunday 27 August all ESC/MSOWSC rounds and the prizegiving start 30 minutes earlier than originally announced.

NEWS (24 May): We are honoured by the presence of Mr. Nakao Osamu, 6-dan professional. He will present a Shogi lesson, give a simultaneous and play a demonstration game against top amateur Larry Kaufman.


LARGEST TOURNAMENT EVER, PRIZE FUND, REGISTRATION

  • With at least 888 participants, the main event, the combined European Shogi Championship/MSO Worldwide Shogi Championship (ESC/MSOWSC), promises to be the largest Shogi tournament ever held in the West. Already 97 players have registered for one or more Shogi events. It is clear this will be a spectacular festival!
  • A very attractive total prize fund of 4,000 GBP (about 6,200 USD) is available.
  • Register at the MSO site for any Shogi event.


EVENTS

  • 23 August: Handicap team match (entry fee 15 GBP/6 GBP juniors); Shogi for Beginners session (FREE entry); Shogi lesson by Nakao Osamu, 6-dan professional (FREE entry).
  • 24 August: Simultaneous event featuring Mr. Nakao (entry fee 10 GBP/4 GBP juniors); MSO Worldwide Blitz Shogi Championship (entry fee 13 GBP/5 GBP juniors); Demonstration game: Nakao Osamu, 6-dan professional against Larry Kaufman, 5-dan amateur (FREE entry).
  • 25-27 August: the 9 rounds main event: the combined ESC/MSOWSC (entry fee 25 GBP/10 GBP juniors).
