Tournament Mode

The Settings menu has a check-box labelled Tournament Mode. This is normally un-checked, as you probably don't want to use it.

If you do select tournament mode, then the following is true:

• Show Legal Moves is forced off, and cannot be turned on again for the duration of the game.
• The Help facility is forced off (and the Help window is closed if it is currently open), and cannot be turned on again for the duration of the game.
• All three mouse buttons have the same effect, that of moving pieces only.
• Tournament Mode itself cannot be turned off again for the duration of the game.
• The touch-and-move rule is enforced, and most keenly - once you have selected a piece to move, you cannot de-select it - any attempt to do so, or any attempt to make an illegal move, results in you losing the game!

So this mode is not for the faint-hearted. But if you fell the need for some disciplinary training, this might be for you.
