Mac OS

Peter Banaschak has identified the following needs, although (due to modem problems) he has yet to carry it all out.

  1. Get yourself a more-or-less up-to-date MRJ (Macintosh Runtime for Java), about v.2.1.4. This can be downloaded e.g. starting from http://www.apple.com/java/ . (As MacBinary ca. 8MB, as Binhex 10.9 MB) [I don't know yet whether any tool from The MRJ SDK might be needed -- but all of the stuff so far can be found on CDROMs that come with Mac magazines.]
  2. JFC (Java Foundation Classes) you get starting from http://www.java.sun.com/products/jfc/#download-swing after accepting their license. (File swing103.zip has ca. 9.5MB)
  3. To unpack, perhaps don't use StuffIt Expander 5.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.2 -- I finally succeded with 5.0. Copy swingall.jar into :Extensions:MRJLibraries:MRJClasses: so the MRJ can find Swing. Don't forget to expand all zipped files. (I don't think that last one is right - Colin Adams).
  4. Configure a browser to run with MRJ (I don't think this ought to be necessary - Colin Adams); go to http://www.colina.demon.co.uk/chu.html and get ChuV1.0.jar. (no need to do so earlier, I think -- I got only rubbish...)
