Dear shogi friends,=20

Today the classic outdoor tournament Shogi in Slottsskogen was played=20
in Goteborg. The Goteborg Shogi Society was the organizer. The=20
tournament was arranged between the two weeks of the Swedish Chess=20
Championship, where we had a beginner tournament the day before=20
yesterday with 15 participants. However, we had competition today from=20
the Swedish chess lightning championship. Four rounds with 30 min + 40=20
s byo-yomi was played without ELO calculation. The weather was=20
magnificient at the beautiful bird pond at Villa Belparc, and there was=20
also some good shogi.

The players in the lower part of the table fought well. Ralf Lundberg=20
performed a successful come back with a fifth position. He received the=20
prize as the best (and only) player with 6-kyu to 10-kyu. Anders=20
Dessmark performed a sensational first tournament at Slottsskogen after=20
being second in two recent beginner tournaments. He won the rating=20
prize as the best player with 11-kyu to 15-kyu (+ non rated players).=20
Jan Palmgren was third after playing well except for a slip of his mind=20
in the silver fight against Jonas in the final round. Jonas played well=20
like last year in Slottsskogen. Now, he also played well in the second=20
round top game against Martin, who had to use dan-quality defence to=20
survive the king side attack.
Someone has to win a tournament like this, and today it was my turn. My=20
shogi worked well, and it was a nice day at Slottsskogen.
This was the seventh edition of Summer shogi at Slottsskogen. Only two=20
players have been total winners in the history of this tournament.

Best regards,
