Hi all,

I tried to announce that a new version of Shogidokoro is available, 
which makes it also possible to use this program under non-Japanese 
windows systems. However, this message didn't appear on Shogi-L, and I 
suspect that there is a problem with the URLs in this message. (This 
happened to me before with a message I wanted to send). Here is the 
message again without the URLs. If you are interested in this program, 
send me a mail and I will give you the details.

This is to inform you that there is a new version of the program 
Shogidokoro which will also work under non-Japanese operating systems. I 
have worked with the programmer to make a completely English version, so 
let me know if there are still any problems or glitches. The new version 
is here:

As explained before, Shogidokoro is probably going to be what Arena is 
for computer chess. Although at the moment there are only a few engines 
that have been adapted for Shogidokoro, I am sure this will change in 
the near future as this program provides an almost ideal test 
environment for computer shogi programs.

Of the strong shogi programs, Bonanza will work with Shogidokoro using 
the following patch:

1) Download the program "up0014.zip" from here:

2) Unpacking will give you the file "u2b.exe", which should be put in 
the same directory where "bonanza.exe" is

3) By adding "u2b.exe" as an engine to Shogidokoro, you can play against 
Bonanza or have Bonanza play itself.
