From: Pieter Stouten shogi net> Date: 26 may 2007 Subject: FWD: Yaburi? [Forwarded on behalf of Eric Kuniholm mail sdccu net>] Question for Japanese speakers: I have noticed that many Japanese Shogi book titles have "yaburi" in them (sorry, this listserve doesn't print kanji). Kato has a Furibisha Yaburi book and Suzuki has a couple of Shikenbisha Yaburi books. I know that "yaburi" means tear or rip, but is the idea that the Joseki is ripping or being ripped? In other words, is the idea "Winning with the Shikenbisha," or "Beating the Shikenbisha"? I was looking at these titles on Amazon Japan, and would like to know before choosing to order them.
