Ralf Akesson (actually with a ring above the "A", so that his name should be pronounced [Okesson]) is a Swedish chess grand master with ELO 2478, who was the Swedish Champion of chess in 1985 and 1999. A very interesting information about Ralf is that he has also played shogi! He participated in the Second Swedish Shogi Championship Tournament in 2000, after having practiced shogi for a week. He scored four points in seven rounds and was number eight out of nineteen players. Unfortunately, Ralf later decided to quit shogi with the comment that (translated from Swedish) "all the invitations to shogi tournaments are too tempting for me at the moment, so I cannot concentrate on the chess tournaments". Hopefully, he will return to shogi some day. So, obviously Ralf Akesson was well aware of who Yoshiharu Habu was, when they played their game in Brussels. Dear shogi friends,

> I don't know who is and how good Ralf Akeson is, but he is an IGM.

Best regards,

Martin Danerud
