No, there isn't. The state-of-art opening strategies many professionals=20
adopt to play were developped after 1990. Jiro Kato published "Shogi=20
Senpo Daijiten" in 1985 which is somewhat similar to ECO. But there is=20
no follower of his work.

I'm not sure. But in shogi world, the concept of "theme diagram" of
 the specific potision is popular. A typical example is the position=20
of the 39th move of Kakugawari Koshikakegin(Bishop exchange and=20
reclining silver) when Sente enters into hostilities by P4f-4e from=20
the position of both formations are the completely same each other=20
at the 38th move. There are a lot of games with this specific position.=20
It may be interesting to compare the two games played by Tadao Kitajima=20
and Ichiro Hiura(2007/2/13)

As you see replaying the both games linked above, the "theme position"=20
of the 39th move is possible with both P7g-7f and P2g-2f as the 1st=20
move. The lines to the 39th move of the both games are different. So do=20
almost all the games with the position.
