From: manabu.terao mx3 ttcn ne jp Date: 15 jun 2007 Subject: RE: "Friendliest" program? Hello Joss and shogi fans, How about "Ham" shogi although the user interface is in Japanese? It's for beginners and webtop application you do not need to download. You can give it a try at http://hozo.hp.infoseek.co.jp/shogi/ The red buttons on the board is choice of the conditions of the game(even/handicapped). The top button in the left side is for resignation. The button at the bottom is for reset. If you marks the check box under Reset button, then you can see squares where you can make a move and Ham shogi can make a move following to you in different colours on the board. I think it helps beginners a lot. The handicaps are different from traditional ones there. 2pc means double Gold handicap. 4 pc means double Golds and Silvers. 6 pc means double Golds, Silvers and kNights. 8 pc means double Golds, Silvers, kNights and lances.
