From: Joss Wright nekrodomos net> Date: 13 jun 2007 Subject: "Friendliest" program? Hello All, This is probably a very low question, given the lofty topics that I've seen discussed here, but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a shogi computer program that is "nice" to play. I mean that mainly in the sense of a nice interface to the program, although something that handles playing lower-strength players effectively would be an added bonus. As a more-or-less complete beginner, I'm unlikely to be stretching the boundaries of any program this lifetime. What would be nice is something that is friendly to use, and pleasing enough to look at. A Japanese-language interface wouldn't be too much of a problem if there aren't any Western programs that fill this criteria. I would prefer to have the "traditional" display of pieces rather than the move-illustrations or other symbolic representations that I've seen. Any suggestions? A little bit of financial outlay isn't out of the question for the program. Sorry for dragging the tone of the list down!
