From: Bernhard März arcor de> Date: 5 feb 2007 Subject: Two shogi related programs Hi, many years ago I had written one Shogi related program for the palm=20 computer and also about one year ago I've written an other Shogi related= =20 program for the PC. I STOPPED (!!!) both projects! Earlier, I decided not to publish them, because then I should have to=20 write documentation (which I hate to do) and furthermore the PC program=20 didn't look good enough in my eyes and maybe have some bugs (or in=20 better words: "unconventional" format can result in wrong kifu). But now, I think maybe this programs can be useful for some of you.=20 Maybe then one of you will write a documentation (with help of me). ;-) As I told, I have stopped this projects, so=20 1) don't expect that I will add new features 2) even don't expect that I will remove (all) bugs (even I recognize=20 looking at my homepage, that I have removed one bug in February 2006) And here are a short description of this two programs: 1) ShogiEV for palm computers This is a shogi editor and viewer for palm computers, with which you can= =20 examine games including testing at a copy of the board and also with=20 coment (for example Reijer Grimbergen's "Format") I expect, that this Shogi-list maybe reading maximum 50 persons and=20 furthermore I expect that almost all of you didn't own a palm computer.=20 Also my palm computer is a little bit old and didn't support high screen= =20 resolution. So I expect for newer hardware you would prefer newer software=20 supporting high screen resolution. I won't add this feature to my program, till someone presents me such a=20 palm supporting high resolution. ;-) Nevertheless if you own an old palm (or think about buying it), you can=20 see screenshots of this program here:=20 http://home.arcor.de/Bernhard.Maerz/ShogiEV Oh, I wonder when I started to create this page, I wrote it in English.=20 ;-) If you like to get this program, simple send me an email. My second shogi related program maybe will be more useful for you. 2) KifuConverter a) As you can see in the program name, I STARTED this program simple as=20 a converter between different formats. So it can read KIF, CSA and PSN.=20 Also it should be able to read Reijer's format, including coments (but=20 not really tested) It can write KIF, CSA, PSN, of course my ShogiEV-Format (including=20 coments) ;-) and many other "human-style", see b) b) then I added some output for watching games, for example HTML output=20 or a Japanese style, writing downwards in columns. look here: http://home.arcor.de/Bernhard.Maerz/KifuConf/ScrHTM.gif Also I created an own piece set in high quality, which you can use for=20 making printing material. look here:=20 http://home.arcor.de/Bernhard.Maerz/KifuConf/ScrOwn.gif Also I've made a fast publishing work of one of Reijer commented games=20 (it's not good work, but only for demonstrating of output quality): http://home.arcor.de/Bernhard.Maerz/KifuConf/64meijin1.pdf Better print it to see the quality of the diagrams!!! c) And finally I've added one nice feature I was looking forward very=20 much. I was inspired by a program I know for chess games. It's a filter-function to search for special kind of games. So for example my program can search in a big game collection (for=20 example the PSN games in GSDB, own played games, ...) for all games with= =20 anaguma castle, where the castle was broken (owner of anaguma castle=20 lost the game). Ohhh, this page I've written in German language, but the main things=20 I've told here in english. I'm afraid, without at least a little bit docu, this second program=20 would be worthless for you. But first I'm interested in knowing, if=20 there is REALLY (!!!) an interest in it. As I told, I have stopped this project and maybe any other person will=20 write such a program "more systematically" and up to time. But if you are really interested in my program, I will put it at my=20 homepage for download and write the minimum info needed to use it.
