A universal standard for game notation would mostly benefit programmers I suppose, not necessarily end users. They started to define a spec for XGF, which is for XML. Unfortunately the never completed it. This could have benefited both programmers and end users. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bernhard C. It seems, that only at the beginning there was some work. You can see the specification for example here: http://www.shogi.net/shogi-l/Archive/2002/Nsep29-03.txt But this specification is very limited, so different persons make different improvements. For example you can reed the improvements by Eric here: http://lists.topica.com/lists/shogi/read/message.html?mid=812599408 Also GSDB seems to add new Tags. For people speaking French (not me), the following page could be interesting: http://shogifrance.fr-bb.com/Forums-Shogi-France-c2/Le-Shogi-Meli-melo-f11/Les-logiciels-de-Kifu-t22-15.htm Also non French speaking can see an example with different tags, like for example "Black_grade" - "SenteGrade" It should be time, to create an EXACT (PSN?) game format for shogi without limitations. But at the other side I ask, if this is really needed, because with "Kifu for Windows" we have a powerful format: KIF --^---------------------------------------------------------------- This email was sent to: shogi-l shogi net EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?a2i6Ys.aCGIy8.c2hvZ2kt Or send an email to: shogi-unsubscribe topica com For Topica's complete suite of email marketing solutions visit: http://www.topica.com/?p=TEXFOOTER --^----------------------------------------------------------------
