From: manabu.terao mx3 ttcn ne jp Date: 18 oct 2006 Subject: Yomiuri will maintain a Ryuoh game outside Japan every two years Hello Shogi Fans, Koichi Saijo, who is a writer for Yomiuri Shimbun, stated that we would like firmly to maintain holding a game of Ryuoh title match outside Japan every two years in the foreseeable future in the latest Shukan Shogi magazine of October 18. Yomiuri Shimbun is the sponsor of Ryuoh-sen. He also wrote as followings; International promotion is one of the main business in the bylaw of JSA. Holding a Ryuoh-title match game stimulated the development of the activity of JSR branches in such a lot of areas as Shanghai, Taiwan, etc. I think the statement responds to the criticisms which appeared in several blogs(in Japanese) about the recent Ryuoh-game in San Francisco. They pointed out the players were not in their best condition due to jet lag when they played the 1st game and doubt if there is a merit of holding a game outside Japan. According to the blog written by Segawa-4dan who was at SF as the recordkeeper of the 1st game, he was a little late for the reopening after the lunch break on the second day. It's a very unusual happening. They say he was dozed off in his room of the hotel.
