On sun is roughly 3.3 cms.=20 Shogi boards are measured in suns so an 8 sun board would be bigger (higher= or thicker) than a 5 sun board. The height of koma dai probably reflects the height of the board. Koma dais tend to be a little smaller that the actual board so .5 sun koma dai for a 1 sun board sounds right. The set you= have is probably one for each player not two for one player so you do not need to stack them.
