Habu did move first so his king is at the bottome of the board. The last move of the game was made by Moriuchi. He moved his king from 2a to 1a. I believe the reason Habu resigned is that he does not have an immediate mate. The only checks he has is either dropping a knight on 1c, a pawn on 1b or playing his horse to 2a. None of those moves lead to mate. Since he also has no way to defend against Moriuchi's mate threats, Habu decided to resign. Finally, even though I am also an American, I did not find Japanese any harder to learn than any other langauge I studied. In fact, I found it easier to learn because of those characters you mentioned. In fact, there are quite a few Americans who are very proficient in both Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and many other langauges with alphabets different from ours.=20 Bill Gaudry --- Steve Polley yahoo com> =1B$B$+$i$N%a%C%;!<%8!'=1B(B > Your free subscription is supported by today's sponsor: > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > Small Business Virtual Office VoIP Phone System.
