According to the Wikipedia (in Japanese), Shogi Day is November 17,=20
which was yesterday. November 17 was made Shogi Day because a shogi=20
match was played in front of the Shogun on that day every year from the=20
reign of the 8th Shogun, Tokugawa Yoshimune (1684-1751). Shogi Day was=20
established by the Shogi Renmei in 1975.
