Of course, the=20 shogi information was limited, but I think that the program gave the=20 ordinary viewer (who had not already fallen asleep) a good picture of=20 the Shoreikai system and what the qualification to become a=20 professional was all about and how much it meant to Mr. Segawa himself. Anyway, congratulations to Nihon Shogi Renmei which has promoted shogi=20 very well by arranging this professional qualification for Mr. Segawa.=20 But more of the similar is needed in order to at least keep the=20 popularity of shogi in its motherland. As I have played shogi in=20 tournaments and at clubs here in Japan from time to time during the=20 last ten years, it is a clear tendency that the ordinary amateurs are=20 ageing and the numbers are on the wane.=20 My recommendation now is the same as it has always been.
