Mr. Shimizugami was the top player on the Pan-Atlantic Jan. 1 2005 rating=
=20
list. He played shogi in some American cities a couple years ago. I played=
=20
him three times with no handicap except sente, and lost them all, but I was=
=20
clearly better at some stage in each game. He seemed to be particularly=20
strong in defense.

According to several sources, the first official game of Segawa 4dan(35 yea=
r
old) will occur on December 12. His opponent will be this year's Ama-Ryuoh
Toru Shimizugami who is entitled to take part in Ryuoh preliminary=20
tournament
who used be a colleague of the NEC shogi team.
