As Larry Kaufman points out, there are a number of factual inaccura= cies=20 concerning the recent International Shogi Forum. (I was assuming that the a= rticle=20 would be solely about the new Shogi Club on campus, and did not get the cha= nce to=20 check the text before it appeared.) On the positive side, the recently formed Swarthmore College Shogi Club is= =20 flourishing. It continues to attract new members to its weekly meetings, an= d we now=20 have a core of seven players who have moved beyond beginner status. I have = been=20 helped in this endeavor by the presence on campus of another Dan-level play= er, a=20 Japanese language-instructor who teaches nearby. Swarthmore College is a sm= all,=20 highly selective liberal arts college and I am finding that the students' i= ntelligence and=20 intellectual curiosity make them very quick learners of shogi.
