I've been studying some of the games involving Hineribisha, the twisting rook. I'm trying to see the benefit of putting your rook in that kind of a cramped position. Two reasons come to mind why it's not a sound opening. One: the best way to defeat a rook is to bring it closer and box it in... hineribisha only seems to help your opponent with that. Two: your pawn phalanx cant advance without boxing in your rook, thus stagnating your development. I'm trying to see when to use the twisting rook and whether or not it's effective. Anyone have anything to add?
