Report:

The 2005 British Open Shogi Championships were held on Saturday 7th and=20
Sunday 8th May at Netherhall School in Cambridge, UK, as part of the MSO=
=20
Cambridge 2005 weekend. The tournament was a very close competition with=
=20
Tony Hosking narrowly beating Andy Hammond to the title, and Kingsley=20
Pratt winning the knock-out competition and securing a place in the=20
British Shogi Team travelling to Japan in October 2005. We also had the=20
first tied game in the British Shogi Championships for many years when=20
Justin Hollingworth and Ian Spence both achieved 'entering Kings' while=20
both were in byoyomi.

We hope to again be part of MSO Cambridge in 2006.

Special thanks are due to MSO Cambridge for allowing us to share their=20
venue.
