I'd recommend the Art of Shogi by Tony Hosking. It has explanations=20 about strategy, castling, openings and quite a lot of games. Another=20 good book is Better Moves for Better Shogi by Aono Teruichi, an=20 english-japanese bilingual book with good explanations about strategy=20 and endgame. If you read german, the German shogi association has some=20 publications about openings: www.shogi.de For the rest it's browsing online or learning japanese. As for that I have a question myself... what are the experiences of=20 others delving into japanese books? Is it possible to at least get a=20 bit of information without knowing the language, but just by reading=20 japanese game notation and knowing some basic shogi kanji?
