From: Adam Marquis gmail com> Date: 6 jun 2005 Subject: PolymathGames.com - Play Shogi and Minishogi About a month ago I decided to set up a web server to emulate play-by-mail play for board games. I wanted it to be for board games in general what Dragon Go Server is for Go: a clean, graphical interface that took care of dirty work like the rules and passing moves between players. I was on a Shogi kick at the time, so the first games I implemented were Shogi and Minishogi. I figured the folks on this mailing list would be interested in trying it out. Right now it is a little rough; it can detect checkmate and blocks illegal moves and drops, but has a little bit of trouble with stalemate. I hope to correct that in the next couple of days. In any case, if you'd like to try it out, it is set up at www.polymathgames.com. I'm also looking for comments, if you have them, on my Shogi rules page. It is also a little rough, and was just meant to get people ready to play a game of minishogi but took on a life of its own. One last note: The site right now only has my personal friends and myself playing on it. My love of shogi, unfortunately, does not make me any good at it. If you want to play against somebody good you'll probably have to bring a friend. Well, thanks in advance for any comments you folks will have, because I really want the site to play well. ~Adam J.
