From: Yury Shpilev yahoo com> Date: 21 jul 2005 Subject: About Mr. Matsumoto (was: WOSC 2005, results and rating results) Dear friends, Sorry for inserting my message... I saw tournament list in row with Mr. Matsumoto. By the way he have only 3 points, but in table him set 4 points. Why? He played next games: 44 Masumoto, Katsumi JP 2k 1700 45 Bilousov, Valentyn UA 9k 1006 1-0 1 39 Stuifbergen, Jan NL 4k 1343 0-1 1 33 Skotnicki, Rikard SE 8k 1001 0-1 1 53 Frey, Vincent FR 13k 724 1-0 2 50 Greben, Kees NL 8k 1060 1-0 3 21 Pietz, Andreas DE 4k 1348 0-1 3 Comment: last digit in row: number of points Matsumoto after current round, 2nd last - result of game Matsumoto against opponent. He won against strongest opponent with rating 1060 and he lost aganst weakest opponent with rating 1001. Therefore he must have real rating between 1001 and 1060. But he received rating 1122 after played games that true may be. I think that Andreas must not to fail about a little grow own rating. If Andreas lost to Matsumoto then we can to say that Mr. Sera and Mr. Pfaffel was true :) (with calculating starting strength of Mr. Matsumoto as 1700). I seems that Asle calculated ratings true.
