Mr. Masumoto told me that he has b= een living in Europe for 12 years and only started playing Shogi seriously = 3 or 4 years ago, so I don't think it's a Japanese rating. And while the sc= aling down does make it a little better for those that lose against him, it= makes it worse fo those who do manage to win, or am I mistaken here? By the way, for the most part I'm just curious how this works. As I wrote, = it was a great game, and I wouldn't want to have missed it, even if I had n= ot gotten any points for it at all.
