Many thanks fo= r the players that did participate in the tournament and I believe all of them ha= d a lot of interesting and exciting games even though most end results were as expecte= d based on the ELO ratings. The Shogi Sekai booklets kindly donated by the Internat= ional Shogi Popularization Society were used as prizes. Based on the low number of participants and on the expressed interest of ma= ny shogi=20 players in a Nijmegen tournament if it would not be scheduled between Chris= tmas and=20 New Year, I think it is safe to conclude that the majority of shogi players= moved on in=20 life from studentship to family life for which the time between Christmas a= nd New Year is=20 considered quality time to spend with the family. Therefore, we intend to plan the 19th Nijmegen Shogi Tournament in the seco= nd half of January 2006 and change the format into a 6-round weekend tournamen= t starting on Saturday around 14.00h and finishing on Sunday around 15.00h such that p= layers from as far as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Hannover can leave home Saturday mor= ning and be back on Sunday evening.
