This t= ime a new city, Vasteras, was the host. For the second time this year, a new record of participants was set in the = tournaments of the Swedish Shogi Federation. In April, there were 22 participants in the Swedish Championship tournament, and now = we had seven teams and a total of 31 individual participants in the Swedish Shogi Team Championship, July 30 to 31, 2005. N= ot less than 15 players played their first rating games. That is a good sign for the future. It was also hopeful to see that = several of the new as well as the more experienced players develop continously. Round 1 Goteborg 1 - Trollhattan 4-0 Carl Johan Nilsson - Robert Soderberg 1-0 Martin Danerud - Daniel Wredenberg 1-0 Jan Palmgren - Bo Flood 1-0 Jonas Ahlqvist - Jan-Olof Helm 1-0 Stockholm - Kungsangen 3-1 Thore Angqivst - Farhad Rouhani 1-0 Jan Rabe - Arash Rouhani 0-1 Joakim Andersson - Henrik Haapala 1-0 Ronny Lindkvist - w.o. 1-0 Goteborg 2 - Vastmanland 3-1 Ulf Dahlqvist - Tobias Fjellander 1-0 Rikard Skotnicki - Andreas Lofberg 1-0 Peder Gedda - Jakob Fjellander 1-0 Hakan Lonnqvist - Roger Andersson 0-1 Vaster=E5s had a bye (3 points). The Swedish team champions of all times started somewhat badly. The match a= gainst Trollhattan could have ended 1-3 instead of 4-0. On the three top boards it was initially shaky for the Goteborg player= s. However, everyone came back and won their games. On the two top boards there was even tsume shogi in the end. In the match against Stockholm, Arash Rouhani from the new club Kungsangen = presented himself from start by beating the ESC player Jan Rabe. Arash, who won the beginner tournament of shogi at the Swe= dish Chess Championship this summer, is one of the biggest shogi talents who has ever emerged in Sweden. Already in 2006 he is= a strong candidate to win the Swedish Junior Championship. In Goteborg 2, all players with experience of rating games won. Round 2 Goteborg 1 - Stockholm 3-1 Carl Johan Nilsson - Christer Hartman 1-0 Martin Danerud - Thore Angqvist 0-1 Jan Palmgren - Jan Rabe 1-0 Jonas Ahlqvist - Joakim Andersson 1-0 Goteborg 2 - Vasteras 4-0 Ulf Dahlqvist - Stefan Hildingstam 1-0 Rikard Skotnicki - Ludvig Karlstrom 1-0 Peder Gedda - Emil Isberg 1-0 Hakan Lonnqvist - Leo Barling 1-0 Kungsangen - Vastmanland 3-1 Farhad Rouhani - Tobias Fjellander 1-0 Arash Rouhani - Andreas Lofberg 1-0 Henrik Haapala - Jakob Fjellander 1-0 w.o. - Roger Andersson 0-1 Trollhattan had a bye (3 points). With the Swiss system (since we for the first time had more than six teams)= the final match was played already in round 2. The top boards displayed good shogi games and tough fights. The first board= was a replay of the Swedish Championship Final of 2005. Carl Johan got his revenge in a counter attack against Christer=B4s k= ing who had had its retreat paths blocked by his own pieces. The second board was a replay of the Swedish Championship Final of = 2003. Martin initially seemed to get the better position with the two rooks after a natural looking bishop sacrifice. Howev= er, Thore played very well with the bishops, and when Martin chose a completely wrong way to escape with his king, he had to acce= pt his first ever lost game in the Swedish Shogi Team Championship in this, the only pure dan game this year. Jan and Jonas won t= heir games, but Palmgren was in big trouble against Rabe. Now, Goteborg 1 had a good position to defend their title. Goteborg 2 shared the lead after winning convincingly against Vasteras.=20 Kungsangen continued to fight well with three players. All of them won. Round 3 Goteborg 1 - Goteborg 2 3-1 Carl Johan Nilsson - Ulf Dahlqvist 1-0 Martin Danerud - Rikard Skotnicki 1-0 Jan Palmgren - Peder Gedda 0-1 Jonas Ahlqvist - Hakan Lonnqvist 1-0 Stockholm - Trollhattan 4-0 Thore Angqvist - Robert Soderberg 1-0 Jan Rabe - Daniel Wredenberg 1-0 Joakim Andersson - Bo Flood 1-0 Ronny Lindkvist - Jan-Olof Helm 1-0 Kungsangen - Vasteras 3-1 Farhad Rouhani - Stefan Hildingstam 1-0 Arash Rouhani - Ludvig Karlstrom 1-0 Henrik Haapala - Leo Barling 1-0 w.o. - Emil Isberg 0-1 Vastmanland had a bye (3 points). Goteborg 1 won the club derby easily. One of the biggest sensations of the = tournament occurred on the third board, where Peder won against Jan in a game that should have resulted in jishogi. Peder had t= he better points, but Jan lost somewhat unnecessarily on time. Stockholm won with a clear margin against Trollhattan, but there was = a good fight on the third board. Daniel did not find a winning attack, and instead he had to resign when the Rabe forces approache= d the king. Once again the three men team won with 3-1. Round 4 Goteborg 1 - Vastmanland 4-0 Carl Johan Nilsson - Tobias Fjellander 1-0 Martin Danerud - Andreas Lofberg 1-0 Jan Palmgren - Jakob Fjellander 1-0 Jonas Ahlqvist - Roger Andersson 1-0 Stockholm - Goteborg 2 3-1 Christer Hartman - Ulf Dahlqvist 0-1 Thore Angqvist - Rikard Skotnicki 1-0 Jan Rabe - Peder Gedda 1-0 Ronny Lindkvist - Hakan Lonnqvist 1-0 Trollhattan - Vasteras 2-2 Robert Soderberg - Karl Magnusson 1-0 Daniel Wredenberg - Stefan Hildingstam 1-0 Bo Flood - Daniel Hermansson 0-1 Jan-Olof Helm - Andreas Myklebust 0-1 Kungsangen had a bye (3 points). Goteborg 1 won easily against Vastmanland. In the match between Stockholm and Goteborg 2, Stockholm in reality secured= the silver medals by winning the match. One of the tournament sensations occurred when Ulf Dahlqvist seemingly easily won agai= nst the Swedish Champion Christer Hartman. Ulf has for a while been a great shogi talent. When will he definitely break throug= h? Trollhattan stumbled through the match against Vasteras, where Stefan Hildi= ngstam had a won game against Daniel. Daniel survived thanks to some luck and some more experience. Rond 5 Goteborg 1 - Kungsangen 4-0 Carl Johan Nilsson - Fahrad Rouhani 1-0 Martin Danerud - Arash Rouhani 1-0 Jan Palmgren - Henrik Haapala 1-0 Jonas Ahlqvist - w.o. 1-0 Stockholm - Vasteras 4-0 Christer Hartman - Karl Magnusson 1-0 Thore Angqvist - Stefan Hildingstam 1-0 Jan Rabe - Daniel Hermansson 1-0 Ronny Lindkvist - Andreas Myklebust 1-0 Trollhattan - Vastmanland 3-1 Robert Soderberg - Tobias Fjellander 1-0 Daniel Wredenberg - Andreas Lofberg 1-0 Bo Flood - Jakob Fjellander 1-0 Jan-Olof Helm - Roger Andersson 0-1 G=F6teborg 2 had a bye (3 points). Goteborg 1 secured the gold medals by winning against Kungsangen. On the se= cond board, Arash Rouhani once again showed that he has to be taken into consideration in the future. He threw away two= tempi in the opening by first moving the bishop to 7g and then exchanging the bishop at 2b. Still he got an attack along his righ= t hand side lance file. Martin had to play on dan level to control the young challenger, who even came back after a small mistake in t= he start of the final attack. But then young brother Rouhani lost in the final tsume attack. The Vasteras organiser in shogi as well as in chess, Stefan Hildingstam, pl= ayed well once again and had a better position against Thore. Stefan, winner of the older group in the Beginner Shogi Tournament a= t the Swedish Chess Championship this summer, shall be well remembered for his games in the Swedish Shogi Team Championship, ev= en though he happened to lose his games this time. Final standings: 1. Goteborg Shogi Society 1 18 points 2. Stockholm Shogi Club 15 points 3. Goteborg Shogi Society 2 12 points 4. Kungsangen Royal and Imperial Shogi Dojo 10 points 5. The Gold Generals, Trollhattan 8 points 6. Vastmanland Shogi Club 6 points (SOS =3D 48) 7. VAS/VSK 6 points (SOS =3D 45) Remaining impressions from the Swedish Shogi Team Championship: Record of participants again! The tournament was a big success, not least thanks to the organizers from V= asteras and surrounding villages. The visiting former Shoreikai student Egoshi, who won the "World Championship" in New York in 2= 000, now living in Brazil, contributed to the good spirit and some shogi knowledge at the venue, which was outdoors on Saturda= y at the Sigma scene and indoors at a chess club on Sunday. Ulf Dahlqvist and Arash Rouhani joined the group of Swedish dan candidates.= There we already have the following names with their top performances within brackets: Christer (Swedish Champion 2005), Nils (T= okyo 2002), Anders (ESC/WOSC 2004), Jan Palmgren (the kyu board in Tokyo 2005), Niklas (the Swedish Championship pl= ay-off 2004), Jonas (Trollhattan Open 2005) and Farhad (Eric Cheymol, ESC 2003). Who will become the fifth Swedish dan play= er? Goteborg 1 is the strongest club team in Sweden with two dan players and tw= o strong kyu players. The club is also well organized with a lot of shogi activities, tournaments and meetings as well as sponsor= ship for the participants of the Swedish Team Shogi Championship. But the team spirit is the key to success! Individual results: The players are ranked using points and SOS. However, the individual result= s are not a tournament as such. spirit and some shogi knowledge at the venue, which was outdoors on= =20 Saturday at the Sigma scene and indoors at a chess club on
Sunday.
Ulf Dahlqvist and Arash Rouhani joined the group of Swedish dan candid= ates.=20 There we already have the following names with their
top performances within brackets: Christer (Swedish Champion 2005), Ni= ls=20 (Tokyo 2002), Anders (ESC/WOSC 2004), Jan
Palmgren (the kyu board in Tokyo 2005), Niklas (the Swedish Championsh= ip=20 play-off 2004), Jonas (Trollhattan Open 2005) and
Farhad (Eric Cheymol, ESC 2003). Who will become the fifth Swedish dan= =20 player?
Goteborg 1 is the strongest club team in Sweden with two dan players a= nd=20 two strong kyu players. The club is also well organized
with a lot of shogi activities, tournaments and meetings as well as= =20 sponsorship for the participants of the Swedish Team Shogi
Championship. But the team spirit is the key to success!

Individual results:

The players are ranked using points and SOS. However, the individual= =20 results are not a tournament as such. This is just a listing of
rating changes and new, preliminary ELO ratings (marked with *).
