Hi Adam,

Here's a recent situation I just had - perhaps there's something usefu= l for=20 you here...

Recently had a party here, invited a number of friends. I noticed the= =20 daughter of one of my friends had an anime book. We chatted for a bit about= =20 anime in general, I asked her if she knew any Japanese. No, which is fine. = I=20 told her if she was interested in Japanese culture, she might like to try t= his=20 game - maybe learn a few kanji along the way. She was interested, I brought= out=20 the board, showed her how the king, gold, and silver move. We played a coup= le=20 games of my bare king against her king and four generals, and over the cour= se of=20 the evening worked up to a six piece handicap. She held her own pretty well= up=20 to that point, posting rather easy victories at 10 and 8 pieces.

Not sure, but if a kid ( and this daughter is about 14 I think) is=20 interested in anime, there is probably an overall interest in the culture, = so=20 they're at least willing to take a look. Giving the big handicap and few pi= eces=20 gives them a chance to do well and not be overwhelmed by the full board of= =20 pieces.

Bonne chance!
