When comparing to Internet ratings like Shogi Club 24, a multiplier is necessary= , but that is apparently because people choose their own opponents on the internet, which distorts the ratings. In the rating systems discussed by me= , pairings are generally assigned, so this distortion should not occur. Probably the ideal conversion between the systems would use some multiplier= slightly different from 1.00, but I believe that 1.00 is close enough for practical purposes Larry Kaufman ----- Original Message -----=20 From: "E R" webtv net> To: topica com> Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 2004 8:11 PM Subject: Re: ama/pro ratings Isn't adding a set number of points too simple? Wouldn't you use a multiplier instead?
