But this comes ou= t=20 too low for top pros, so apparently the assumption of adding a constant to= =20 Pan-Atlantic ratings for comparison to Pro ratings is not accurate enough. = I=20 might suggest pro rating =3D SC24 rating *0.9 + 400 might be a better estim= ate=20 than the simple addition of 130 that I mentioned in my last email. It d be interestig to compare > one's strength with "real shogi players" :-))) The official equation used by the FESA to transfer ShogiDojo24 rating into PanAtlantic rating for use in tournaments is PanAt =3D 870 + 0.7*SD. That i= s, unless it got changed. This equation is not so bad. However, it does not leave room for any players with a PanAtlantic rating below 870; all the 15t= h through 10th kyus should rate zero in the Dojo. And indeed the lower strenght level at the dojo is quite crammed. But personally I prefer a function of PanAtl =3D 400 + 42*SQRT(SD); note that PanAtlantic starts at 4= 00 while ShogiDojo starts at 0 points. This function gives a better estimation= for both the lower rated players and the dan players. It is based on 30 western players, whose ratings in both systems are known (basically the sam= e list FESA used with some extra players in the lower region (including myself). I can send you a grafic if you want, but I'm not going to post a binary into the mailing list. However, one must keep in mind that deviation= s from this best fits are about +-300 points on average and can be even highe= r in individual cases! --=20 NEU +++ DSL Komplett von GMX +++ http://www.gmx.net/de/go/dsl GMX DSL-Netzanschluss + Tarif zum superg=FCnstigen Komplett-Preis!
