Therefore, I am not sure how the formula you mentioned applies. I believe that the Japanese Amateur Shogi Association recognises Shogi24 ratings in its tournaments. I also think that on average Shogi24(dojo) ratings tend to be a few grades lower (a couple hundred points?) that regular Japanese Amateur Association ratings, so a 3-dan amateur may be only a 1-dan on Shogi24. I might be mistaken but I think it is something like that. I don't think that the Japanese Shogi Federation uses or even acknowledges a numerical rating system for its Pros. I believe they only use the dan/kyu= system. There are web pages that list numerical ratings for Pros but I think those are just created for fun and have no official standing at all. They probably make sense mathematically but I am not sure how relevant they= would be for making a good comparison. Pro's and amateurs both use a dan/kyu system but they are quite different. It's not uncommon for an amateur 3,4,or even 5-dan player to enter the shoreikai pro-training school= and start out as a 6 kyu. If your doing OK on Shogi Dojo 24 then you'd probably perform just as good or a little better in Japanese amateur tournaments.=20=20 Bill Gaudry --- Daniel Toebbens gmx de> =1B$B$+$i$N%a%C%;!<%8!'=1B(B > Your free subscription is supported by today's sponsor: > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > Save up to 67% on Omaha Steaks + Get 6 FREE Burgers and a=20 > FREE Cutlery Set + Cutting Board! > http://click.topica.com/caacOlKa2i6Ysa7fLJaa/OmahaSteaks > ------------------------------------------------------------------- >=20 >=20 > > Dear Mr.Kaufman and all other shogi funs, > > would You mind to publish some formula for transformation shogidojo > rating > > to pro rating or nihonrenmai ama rating.
