There were quite a few posts about it on Shogi-L at that time. There used be some activity on that site, but these days if you're lucky you may find one or two players ( mostly absolute beginners ) at most= but usually there's noone there. Perhaps, that is because more non-Japanese= seem to prefer the English version of Shogi24. Also, Japanese players (or those that understand Japanese) have quite a few other shogi playing sites to choose from in addition (i.e.: Yahoo Japan Shogi ) to Shogi24.
