Fukumura san told me that 5 years old is the right age to begin learning Shogi. I've already tried to teach Shogi to my daughter but since this year, it was without success. Nevertheless, she's now 9 yo and, since a few weeks, seems finally to be interested in. So, I think people have to be sometimes more patient. Eddy is teaching Shogi at his school. So far I know he has some "clients" who are younger. Around 7 yo. They're playing with pleasure, because it is offered in their school activities. But, afterwards, we never see them in our club. On our own experience, it seems easier to "keep" a player when teaching him= when he's 12 years old. That was my 2 pence...
