I've been asked to tell how I remember the events regarding Odd Vidar
and Norsk Shogi:

Odd Vidar was the organizator of the meeting where Norsk Shogi was
founded.  He was president until late 1999.  I don't remember any big
problems before that nor any problems when he choose to withdraw from
the board.

But after that we went through the economic situation together to sort
out what to do with expences for the last year that had or had not the
approval of the board.  Here we had a direct conflict between Odd
Vidar who meant that we could not be resigned to be limited by the
economic situation in the endeavor of making Norsk Shogi grow, and
those who would think much smaller.=20=20

In the fall of 2000 just when Odd Vidar proclaimed that he did not
want to continue as being a member of Norsk Shogi there was also a
question about what to do with membership fee that Odd Vidar claims he
had gotten on behalf of the club from people that only he knew about.

He had for a time claimed to organize a group of weak shogi players
which someday could be good enough to start to play in the club.  That
he wanted to mainly work with this group was the reason given for
resigning as president and member of the board.

One player from this group did visit the club 2-3 times, but apart
from this I didn't know who they where or how many they where.  My
feeling was that if he could pull this off and increase the number of
players then it would be just great, but I didn't expect anything and
perhaps Odd Vidar felt that he didn't get the support that he
deserved.

Norsk Shogi is open for everybody and I don't know why he claims that
we tried to excommunicate him.  His claim that no one else can thrive
in the environment of the club is to vague to respond to.  If someone
else wants to start another Shogi club in Norway that would be great
and we would discuss with them how best to organize a national level
above the clubs.  But if such a new club doesn't want to have anything
to do with Norsk Shogi at all there is not much we could do.  Then it
would be a FESA question which group to recognize.

I don't know of any problems a "non club" player would have for most
tournament but for the Norwegian Championship we have required that
the membership fee has been payed.  But if someone wants to pay the
fee as a tournament fee instead because they do not want to become a
member then that would be ok.  But if they don't want to pay that
either on the grounds that it goes to Norsk Shogi then they would not
be allowed to play.

I sent this because I was asked to and I hope I didn't make any
unnecessary attacks.  If Odd Vidar continues this debate I would
prefer to just ignore what is said about the past and only debate the
questions about the future if he comes with a spesific question or
suggestion.
