I do not think you've done anything wrong. In case of my observation of Gekisashi2, it thinks at longest 29 seconds per move under the unlimited time condition. The problem with Todai shogi on my computer is not the maximum time taken, which is reasonable, but the average time taken. In a game with a 30= ' time limit, it may take only 3 minutes or so for the entire game, though this varies greatly. I don't think Japanese are that impatient! Anyway I think the program should use most of its time, since the user can always select a faster time limit for the program if he so desires.
