I thought I might just add that I like these two books:

Yokofudori 85hi senpo
by Chuza published in 2001 (though he says that pretty much by the time it=
=20
was published there were already many important innovations that were made=
=20
after the manuscript was finished)

Fujii System
by Fujii 1999, not as recent as the second volume indicated below.

I agree about the Habu's brain series.

In my opinion, Habu no Zuno(Habu's Brain) Vol.1-10 are
substantially a successor to Shogi Senpo Dai Jiten. The series
were published from 1992 to 1994. I would recommend to buy these
series rather than buying Shogi Senpo Dai Jiten if the purpose
of purchase is to become stronger by getting opening knowledge.

After publication of Habu no Zuno Vol.1-10, four major invention
in the opening appeared, Fujii System, Millenium castle, Gokigen
Nakabisha and Yokofutori R8e. They are covered in Fukaura's
books Kore ga Saizensenda(This is the Front Line)in 1999 and
Saizensen Monogatari(Front Line Story)in 2003.
