I think it should be shared by shogi=20 fans overseas as well. So I'm posting the original article to=20 shogi-l with the permission from ramalam-san. The content of the=20 article will also be introduced in a Japanese famous shogi=20 magazine "Kindai Shogi". I hope this will encourage you to=20 recognize Relay Shogi better. Meanwhile, ISC relay team failed=20 the cut of the tournament with 2 losses in a row. Thanks and best regards Manabu Hello fellow Shogi fans, =20 I just thought I would write a few words about the SC24 Relay Tournament. My name is Darren Paull my userid is ramalam, I am from Australia. =20 I was kindly informed of the relay tournament by Manabu Tearo of the Inter= national Shogi Club.A message was sent out to all I.S.C. members to see if they were= interested. I expressed a desire to play and met the criteria to be eligible to play (1= 00 game minimum games played on SC24).=20 =20 I was then invited by Manabu San to be one of the team members. I have to a= dmit to being=20 nervous about taking part, I was worried making bad moves and ruining the g= ame for my team mates. After some reassurance from Manabu san I decided I would go through = with it. There=20 was also the surprise and honour of being the first ever non=20 Japanese player to take part! =20 Having never played relay shogi before I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it al= l that much; I have played=20 relay western Chess before and consider it to only be a novelty,=20 compared to the normal game. With relay Shogi it's a diiferent story, as there is not the potential for = boring one sided or predictable end games which are common to the western game. The game itself, was very exciting and above all great fun! It lasted almos= t 150 moves, all the players, were friendly and willing to offer sound advice. Even though I felt at time= s I wasn't quite sure what to move next, it is an excellent way of improving as you are chatting with players = that may be many times your strength.I can honestly say that after the game I felt I had enjoyed it as = much as playing the normal=20 two player Shogi. =20 To summarize, if you are a Shogi player from anywhere in the=20 world and are thinking of trying relay Shogi, don't hesitate, give it a try, you wont be sorry! =20 Darren Paull End of the message Your free subscription is supported by today's sponsor: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Get a Great Credit Card for You Today=20 You can find a credit card to fit your credit needs.=20=20 All types of credit cards -- 0% APRs, Rewards, & Bad Credit. http://click.topica.com/= caacvgua2i6YsbnuqMaf/411Web ------------------------------------------------------------------- --^---------------------------------------------------------------- This email was sent to: = shogi-l shogi net EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?a2i6Ys.= bnuqMa.= c2hvZ2kt Or send an email to: shogi-unsubscribe topica com For Topica's complete suite of email marketing solutions visit: http://www.topica.com/?p=3DTEXFOOTER --^----------------------------------------------------------------
