In my opinion, the best page to get you started is Roger Hare's Shogi page . It features a general introduction, a description of board, pieces, starting set-up and notation, the rules and much more. In the USA, equipment and books can be purchased from Yutopian . There may be others. The US Shogi Federation (which one can join as club or individual) may be able to point you to other sources of equipment.
