elaborate versions around on the web, though. In my opinion, the best page
to get you started is Roger Hare's Shogi page
<http://homepages.ed.ac.uk/rjhare/shogi/intro.htm>. It features a general
introduction, a description of board, pieces, starting set-up and notation,
the rules and much more.

In the USA, equipment and books can be purchased from Yutopian
<http://www.yutopian.com/>. There may be others. The US Shogi Federation
(which one can join as club or individual) may be able to point you to other
sources of equipment. Please refer to USSF chairman Larry Kaufman
