From: DANERUD MARTIN TELIA COM> Date: 16 jul 2003 Subject: An e-mail from Ockero Dear shogi friends, I am writing this e-mail from Ockero, Sweden, where the ESC/WOSC will be played from August 7 until August 10. I want to make some statements concerning the event: Congratulations to everyone who has registered! The islands are wonderful in the Swedish summer. If there is a paradise on Earth, it has to be around here somewhere. There is still a chance to register until the end of the personal registration at 4 p.m., August 7. The name of the bus stop at Nimbus is Ockero Farjelage. All over the islands I have spread our ESC/WOSC poster. Hopefully, there will be a lot of spectators coming. The local newspaper will be there, and hopefully also other Swedish media. There is good space in the venue for shogi at separate boards, spread out all over the place which has a high ceiling. It was not hot indoors even on this hot summer day. There will be several places for analysis at the entrance. We will have an Internet connection at the venue, and there is a possibility to lock in valuable things like portable computers. There are still some beds left at the youth hostel. I strongly recommend everyone to stay at that fresh and modern facility. Not having to commute every day is a big advantage. Do not forget to bring bedwear and towel! Do not bring an old sleeping bag. This place is really clean and comfortable. Everyone who has made a booking of youth hostel, meals, or hotel via the Swedish Shogi Federation or to Albrecht are hereby confirmed about their bookings. Do not forget to bring your camera and your swim equipment. There will be several good occasions for swimming in the ocean, just at the rocks behind Nimbus, or at any of the sand beaches at the islands, which are close, since the ferry to the other islands leaves 100 m from Nimbus.
