Subject: NHK Update

Something very interesting just Happened in the NHK TV Shogi Tournament.
Women's Meijin Hiroe Nakai just defeated Men's Pro Mamoru Hatakeyama 6 dan.
I don't know if this is the first time a Women has won an NHK game but I
have never seen it in the 10 years I've been here. I've seen Ms. Nakai play
in this tournament on TV quite a few times and every time she's been
completely pushed off the board. In fact a few years ago she lost to Mr.
Hatakeyama in game in which she only barely got out of the opening. Women
Pro's do occasionally beat Men Pro's so I'm not sure if this is an
earth-shaking upset. But, Mamoru Hatekeyama is a pretty strong player and
this time it was on National TV. I think it's going to be talked about a
lot in the shogi world.
