Shogi champion Habu Yoshiharu is competing in the Open
Section
of the World Open (Chess) in Philadelphia this July 4
weekend
and he is playing very well. He drew with a strong
grandmaster,
Joel Benjamin (2673), and drew International Master
William
Paschall (2494). He finally lost his first game in
Round 5 to
GM Darmen Sadvakasov (2595). After five rounds, Habu
has
3 points and is 71st out of 239 players. The
tournament
runs through Sunday.
