To all shogi fans, France seams to be one favorit spot to the great shogi champions for playing chess ! Toshiyuki Moriuchi, Meijin is participating in a chess tournament in France. in the town of Cappelle la Grande, north France. Toshiyuki will play the first 7 rounds of this great 9 rounds chess open tournament. Cappelle la Grande's chess club organizes each year a big open tournament with really many GMs and IMs. About 600 players participate in this year edition. Such a number of players is a dream for all shogi tournaments organisers !! The tournament started yesterday, saturday 21st february and Toshiyuki played against the Russian IM, Alexander RAETSKY, (2444 fide). The fide rating list gives no elo to Toshiyuki, but he is 2247 in the tournament table. As white, Toshiyuki won his first game ! The gamescore is not available yet, I have no idea when it will be published. Today, he plays Krzysztof JAKUBOWSKI, a fide master, with a fide elo of 2473. Today's game starts at 14h00 CET, in about 30 minutes.
