It's been designed to run in a client-server mode. The 'database server' is included. Running "java Server" starts the server, you can probably use an OS-X Unix prompt to do so. This is all in archives included help file. In any case, that' more then we could see before on a Mac. The JDK on Mac was so sh*tty in the past you couldn't do a lot with it really. In any case, my experience with the program is that perhaps 20 people are using it world-wide. Think a about it, around 3 percent of the personal computer users have a Mac and only a part of them are using OSX. Writing a program is a wonderful and creative experience and it certainly won't do any harm. But I'm afraid you'll be writing it mostly for yourself and a select few. I'm offering to do a clean-up for J2SE 1.4.1. Lately I've been using Java a lot, it won't be any problem. Yes, Matt's excellent program does many needed things. But unfortunately, I had in the past so many difficulties to use Gsdb in Mac OS 9 and previous versions. And even when I could see something, it was definitely too slow. It was really unusable on my machine. Now Mac OS X runs java 1.4.1 and with adsl this should be faster. Let's try. Ok, I see the board, I can move pieces, but I still have "Error: Couldn't connect to game server !" at the beginning. And I don't have the menu bar, I need to try all Fn keys in order to find the possibilities. So I can only use the java app to enter games and try to copy & paster the moves. Same as before. (I already have discussed about this with Matt long ago). I prefer a standalone application. Cheers, Eric
