You can find it at the following web-site: http://www.ibridge.be/shogi/. The applet and database are available for downloading if you're not on-line all the time. To start the applet, click on "database", shown on the left. After loading, press F5 to show the decode/encode window. Copy the western kifu in the text-field in the middle. For example: copy the text between the ---- lines: -------------------------------------------------------------- [Sente "Mirnik Boris, 3dan"] [Gote "Cheymol Eric, 4dan"] [Date "2002/08/24"] [Country "Belgium"] [Event "European Championship 2002"] [Round "5"] [Result "1-0"] [Source "Scoresheet"] 1.P7f P3d 2.P6f S6b 3.R6h P5d 4.P1f P1d 5.K4h K4b 6.K3h K3b 7.K2h G6a-5b 8.S3h S5c 9.P6e P5e 10.G6i-5h R6b 11.S7h P6d 12.Px6d Sx6d 13.S6g P7d 14.P5f P'6e 15.L9h S4b 16.P4f S4b-5c 17.G4g S5d 18.P3f Px5f 19.Bx2b+ Kx2b 20.Sx5f P'5e 21.S4e Sx4e 22.Px4e B'7i 23.R5h S'6g 24.R5i B2d+ 25.P4d +B3c 26.Px4c+ Gx4c 27.G4i-4h P6f 28.P'4d Gx4d 29.N3g S6h+ 30.B'9e +Sx5i 31.Bx6b+ G4c 32.+B6c +B4b 33.R'6b S5c 34.R6a+ R'3a 35.+Rx8a P6g+ 36.+Rx9a +P5h 37.P'4d Sx4d 38.P'4e +Px4h 39.Gx4h G5c 40.Px4d Gx6c 41.L'4c P'4g 42.Gx4g P'4f 43.Gx4f G'4h 44.N2e +S5h 45.Lx4b+ B'3i 46.K3g Gx3h 47.Kx3h B4h+ 48.K2i Gx4b 49.+Rx3a Kx3a 50.R'6a P'4a 51.N'4c Gx4c 52.G'3b Kx3b 53.Px4c+ Kx4c 54.Rx6c+ G'5c 55.B'5d 1-0 -------------------------------------------------------------- In the decode menu, select "Start decoding". You will be destroying the game you entered so far. That's why a warning is being given. Incidently, you can also decode Reijer Grimbergens invaluable games (with comments) from Shukan Shogi. Do this by selecting the correct decoding type in the Decode window. A FAQ help-text is available on the web-site and in the download. I hope this was the kind of help you were looking for. P7f P3d ) to japanese, and then play it on a board using java or something. i like to give some comments on the good games from the esc, but i am so lazy to see kifu and play it manually on a real board. thanks in advance chiaki
