From: bogin YAHOO CO JP> Date: 29 oct 2002 Subject: Thanks again for the info. Mr. Kaufman, Thanks for another reply. Achieving mid 3dan on the Shogi Dojo is really quite a good result. The cut off for 3dan is 1900 so mid 3dan would put yuo in the 2000 area. That's only an area I can dream about. I've only been lucky enough to get to about 1750 which is not all that impressive. Occasionally, I search through the player data base to find possible foreign opponents to play against and/or chat with. So far the highest non-Japanese that I've been able to find is somebody in Maryland going by the handle "Chesspro". But, that person's rating is only a low 2 dan of 1770 or so with a winning percentage of about .43 or so. Therefore, you may very well be the highest unprovisionally rated western player on that site. Have you ever thought in entering the Jun-I Sen ladder on Shogi 24? I'm sure you'd do quite well. What's your handle name? It's always nice to meet find fellow Americans on those sites. I've tried the English Yahoo!Shogi site but there's never anyone there. A lot of Japanese players don't like to analyze and go over games. That's too bad because it's really a good way to improve. Are you aware of any other strong players who play on Shogi 24? Perhaps we can form our own league or something or have our own tournaments. Anyway, thanks for all the info. Bill Gaudry __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
