From: DANERUD MARTIN TELIA COM> Date: 20 oct 2002 Subject: Shogi professionals played chess in Tokyo Dear shogi friends, Today, we could follow chess games between the French GM Joel Lautier who played Habu, Moriuchi, and Sato in clock simultaneous games at the NEC Shiba Club close to Mita subway station in Tokyo. Sato lost clearly, but Habu had a chance to draw his game. However, he did not get his pieces together in a position with unequally coloured bishops, which could be exploited by Lautier. The surprise was that Moriuchi defended well against a kingside attack as black. He could even have won his game, but in the end it was a draw. You can go through the games at: http://campaign.biglobe.ne.jp/chess-shogi/live/lautier.htm Sincerely yours, Martin Danerud President of the Swedish Shogi Federation
