From: Justin Hollingworth UKGATEWAY NET> Date: 20 mar 2002 Subject: ANA wingspan article Finally got round to posting this: There was an article in December's inflight magazine for ANA about Shogi. Basically, it covered the history of Shogi, then talked about the town of Tendo, Yamagata, where they "make 95% of Japanese shogi pieces." Strange, because I thought mine were made in a factory in Kawasaki, but I think they mean 'real' peices. Finally there is a brief interview with Habu - his background and history, differences between chess and shogi, etc. He is also credited with "publishing a book about Shogi in English called Habu's Words" - so sorry, Tony, no glory there. If anyone desperately wants the article, can they e-mail me directly. I have it scanned in pdf format - the photos are a bit crap but the text is fine. It's just over a meg in size, so that's why I won't post to the group. Justin
