From: Eric Cheymol FREE FR> Date: 4 mar 2002 Subject: Results of the French Open Championship Imagine a place designed for shogi : quietness, a very bright light, a big room with a very high ceiling, non smoking area, no car noises of any kind, trees and grass in a big park. Imagine a wide strength field of players : the 2 actual best elos in Europe, the actual European Champion, 2 previous European Champions among of seven 3 Dan or more players, as well as many high, middle and low kyu players, with 3 under 8 years old players. All this was in Paris this week-end. This beautiful place is the House of Japan in Paris, thanks to Nishizawa san, the director, who gave us the opportunity to organize this tournament. And no doubt this tournament was a great success ! Especially for Boris Mirnik who travelled from Germany to win the tournament. Arend van Oosten, 3 times European Champion, took the second place, after winning a difficult last game in which Emmanuel Schamelhout showed us his improvements but missed a tsume after a very long attack. This tournament was used to qualify the representative of France for the next International Shogi Forum in Tokyo. I took this place, Frederic Pottier is the substitute if needed. I enclose below the complete final table. Next time, don't miss the chance to play in Paris, it will be in the same place :-)) Tournoi : Paris, French Open Championship Date : 03/03/2002 Nr Nom Nat Grade Rondes Pts Sos Sb 1 Mirnik Boris D 3 Dan 5+ 3- 4+ 7+ 2+ 6+ 6 27 22 2 Van Oosten Arend NL 4 Dan 9+ 4+ 3+ 6- 1- 8+ 5 28 18 3 Cheymol Eric F 4 Dan 7+ 1+ 2- 5- 6+ 10+ 5 27 18 4 Ono Yoichi J 1 Dan 6+ 2- 1- 11+ 7+ 5+ 5 27 16 5 Uemura Yoshiyuki J 4 Dan 1- 8+ 7- 3+ 9+ 4- 4 28 13 6 Tsugawa Takahisa J 3 Dan 4- 18+ 9+ 2+ 3- 1- 4 27 11 = Pottier Frederic F 3 Dan 3- 11+ 5+ 1- 4- 15+ 4 27 11 8 Schamelhout Emmanuel F 1 Kyu 15+ 5- 10+ 13+ 14+ 2- 4 22 13 9 Schmidt Guillaume F 3 Dan 2- 12+ 6- 18+ 5- 16+ 4 21 8 10 Weimann Christophe F 1 Kyu 14+ 13+ 8- 12+ 18+ 3- 4 20 11 = Stuifbergen Jan NL 8 Kyu 17+ 7- 16+ 4- 13+ 18+ 4 20 11 12 Camacho Eddy F 9 Kyu 22+ 9- 17+ 10- 15- 19+ 3 16 5 13 Osmont Fabien F 9 Kyu 20+ 10- 19+ 8- 11- 21+ 3 16 4 14 Debrieu Claude F 11 Kyu 10- 17+ 20+ 19- 8- 0+ 3 14 4 = Yoshida Kazuhide J 8- 22+ 18- 20+ 12+ 7- 3 14 4 16 Marquand Jean-Christophe F 18- 19+ 11- 21+ 0+ 9- 3 13 3 = Ishikawa Yasushi J 11- 14- 12- 0+ 19+ 20+ 3 13 3 18 Guzek Florian F 4 Kyu 16+ 6- 15+ 9- 10- 11- 2 22 6 19 Mallet Francois F 0+ 16- 13- 14+ 17- 12- 2 15 3 20 Flotte Antoine F 13- 0+ 14- 15- 21- 17- 1 13 0 21 Jodet Luc F 15 Kyu 0- 0- 0- 16- 20+ 13- 1 7 1 22 Ishikawa Hiroshi J 12- 15- 0- 0- 0- 0- 0 6 0 ---------------- Get the European shogi archives at http://www.shogi.fr.st
