I don't know what the record might be nowadays for the longest Shogi game and probably there are one or two nonsense scores extant; but as far as actual professional games are concerned, an extraordinarily long game featured in the Oza tournament played on 23rd October 1981. This saw Awaji who was then 6-dan (Black) playing Nakada 4-dan (White), in a Twisting Rook opening, which only finished in Awaji's favour after 339 moves! The time limit here was 6 hours per side.
