The evening before (6 December) the 1st Italian Open BLITZ Shogi Championship will take place. For all details on the venue, schedule, format, registration and accommodation, refer to . Participation is free of charge and players from Belgium, Norway, France, Holland, Switzerland and Italy have already registered. The Italian Open is part of the European Grand Prix circuit, so it represents a great opportunity to score points for this prestigeous GP title. The Shogi Championships are part of "Giochi Sforzeschi" (the Italian Mind Sports Olympiad), featuring more than 60 Mind Sports including Chess, Go, Renju, Xiang Qi, Bridge, Mah Jong, Draughts, Backgammon, Mancala, Othello, Scrabble, Abalone, Risk and Stratego.
